Best Paper Awards

Emeritus Professor Roger Layton was honoured with two awards at the recent Macromarketing Society Meeting in the USA. The Charles Slater Memorial Award for the most significant contribution to macromarketing in the previous two years of the Journal of Macromarketing was received for his paper "Marketing systems: a core macromarketing concept." This is his second Slater Award, with only a handful of scholars winning more than once.

His paper on economic growth, marketing systems and quality of life won the George Fisk Award for the best paper at the Macromarketing Society meeting. This is the third time Professor Layton has won this award - 2006, 2007 and 2008. The ideas embodied in these papers will be aired in Sydney in December at the Forum on Markets and Marketing.

Excellence in Teaching Recognised

Dr Mohammed Razzaque was awarded the Inaugural Bill Birkett Award for Teaching Excellence at the Australian School of Business Awards Ceremony on 17 April, 2008.  The Selection Committee were particularly impressed with Dr Razzaque's sustained contribution to Learning and Teaching, his outstanding CATEI results and his strategies for providing student support and enhancing the quality of student learning.

In further recognition of his teaching, Dr Razzaque was also awarded the Vice-Chancellor's Award for Teaching Excellence in November, 2008.  This is a most prestigious achievement.
