Roger was appointed Director Accreditation in the Australian School of Business in January 2008. He is a long serving member of UNSW, joining in 1990 when he returned to Australian after 12 years studying and working in Japan.
Roger has served in numerous positions within the faculty, among them being Director of UNSW's largest postgraduate program, the Master of Commerce (2005-2006), Head of the Tourism & Hospitality Management Unit (2004-2007), Academic Director of the Faculty's Intensive Preparation Program for Indigenous Australians (2002-2003) and member of the Branding and Marketing Working Group in the merger of the AGSM and the Faculty of Commerce and Economics (2006).
His research interests include tourism, destination marketing, inter-organisational relationships in tourism markets, consumer attitudes and travel behaviours in the Japanese & Asian outbound markets, and unethical practices in international tourism. He has undertaken a number of government-funded research projects and consults widely in the tourism industry. He has published two academic books, two Japanese-language books and numerous articles in the academic literature.

Undertakes consulting work on Japanese and Asian tourism markets for Australia’s leading tourism organisations such as Australian Tourist Commission, Qantas, Tourism NSW, and Inbound Tourism Organisation of Australia. Works as cross-cultural trainer of Westerners working in Japan or in Japanese companies overseas, with clients including Bankers Trust, Caltex, Mars and Salomon Brothers.
